Road distance and route from OpenStreetMap routing, without traffic. Health figures are CDC PLACES model-based, age-adjusted estimates for adults (2023 survey data, 2025 release). They describe the community, not our patients.

A back-roads route into Tampa

Unlike most of Pinellas County, Tarpon Springs connects to our clinic without crossing the bay or touching an interstate. The measured route follows Tarpon Avenue onto Keystone Road for about five miles, winds through the Keystone and Odessa area, then picks up Gunn Highway and Ehrlich Road into northwest Tampa.

It is about 22 miles, mostly two-lane and suburban roads. Those are calmer than the bridges but can slow down behind school buses and at the larger intersections.

What Tarpon Springs' figures show

CDC PLACES estimates that 21.7 in every 100 Tarpon Springs adults have been told they have a depressive disorder, above the Pinellas County estimate of 20.9. About 18.2 in every 100 adults are estimated to have frequent mental distress.

Those numbers come from modeling a national survey and are best read as a description of the community. They are not a measure of anyone's chance of responding to treatment, but they do show that depression touches a large share of households in and around Tarpon Springs.

Fitting treatment into your week

Sessions are scheduled on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, and each one takes roughly 90 minutes to two hours at the clinic. Add the drive both ways and a quiet evening afterward, because you cannot drive yourself home and should not drive until the next day.

If you work, it is worth checking early how much time off a course of sessions would need, and whether a regular weekday slot is realistic for you and your driver. Knowing this before you begin avoids rearranging sessions at short notice.

Begin with telehealth

You can request a consultation and hold it by telehealth while you are in Florida. We review your history, the treatments you have already tried, and your current medications, and tell you plainly whether ketamine therapy seems reasonable.

If it does, you get a written plan and its full cost before committing. Treatment sessions then take place at the Tampa clinic, with the medicine given as a small injection under the skin and a clinician monitoring you throughout.

Help closer to home

On days without a session, Tarpon Springs residents can dial 211 for free referrals to local health and human services in Pinellas. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline answers calls and texts at every hour, and emergencies always go to 911.

In person or by telehealth

You can be seen both ways. Consultations, planning conversations, and follow-up visits happen in person at our Tampa clinic or by telehealth — whichever works better for you.

Ketamine itself is always administered in person, at the clinic, with a clinician monitoring you throughout. We do not prescribe ketamine for use at home.

Telehealth visits require you to be physically located in Florida at the time of the visit.

How telehealth works here

  • Telehealth is available to patients who are physically located in Florida, and the clinicians providing that care hold active Florida licenses.
  • Your location is confirmed at the start of every telehealth visit. If you are not in Florida, the visit does not go ahead.
  • Ketamine is never prescribed for you to take at home. It is administered only at our clinic, in person, with a clinician monitoring you throughout — a telehealth visit does not change that.
  • You are seen in person before any treatment session, because every session happens at the clinic.
  • A telehealth visit never guarantees that treatment will be offered, any more than an in-person evaluation does.
  • Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, call or text 988, or call 911.
