Getting from Safety Harbor to north Tampa

Although Safety Harbor faces Tampa across the water, the quickest route we measured does not use a bridge. It heads north on State Road 580 and Forest Lakes Boulevard through Oldsmar, then runs east on Linebaugh Avenue for almost nine miles before a short final stretch on Dale Mabry Highway.

The total is about 18 miles. Some drivers prefer to cross on the Courtney Campbell Causeway instead, and either way gets you to the clinic.

Safety Harbor's estimates

CDC PLACES estimates that 21.0 in every 100 adults in Safety Harbor have been told they have a depressive disorder, roughly matching the Pinellas County estimate of 20.9. The local estimate for frequent mental distress, 16.6 in every 100 adults, is among the lowest of the Pinellas communities on this site.

As always with PLACES, these are statistical estimates for the whole city. They help explain why so many local people look for other options when standard treatments have not been enough, and why it is worth asking questions early rather than waiting.

Planning your treatment days

Each session takes about 90 minutes to two hours at the clinic. A responsible adult will need to take you home, and driving or operating machinery has to wait until the next day.

From Safety Harbor, the round trip is manageable for most drivers, and the route avoids both tolls and the busiest bridge traffic. Agreeing on a regular weekday slot for the whole course, during clinic hours of 9am to 5pm, tends to make the routine easier for everyone involved.

Telehealth for the conversations

Consultations, planning calls, and check-ins between sessions can all happen by telehealth while you are physically in Florida. Only the treatment sessions require you to come to the clinic.

Before any session, you will know the plan and the full cost of the recommended course in writing. Nothing is sold as a fixed package, and the plan is reviewed with you as treatment goes on.

Local help when you need it

For help outside clinic hours, dialing 211 in Pinellas connects you with local health and human services, at no cost. The 988 Lifeline is available by call or text at any time, and an emergency always calls for 911.

In person or by telehealth

You can be seen both ways. Consultations, planning conversations, and follow-up visits happen in person at our Tampa clinic or by telehealth — whichever works better for you.

Ketamine itself is always administered in person, at the clinic, with a clinician monitoring you throughout. We do not prescribe ketamine for use at home.

Telehealth visits require you to be physically located in Florida at the time of the visit.

How telehealth works here

  • Telehealth is available to patients who are physically located in Florida, and the clinicians providing that care hold active Florida licenses.
  • Your location is confirmed at the start of every telehealth visit. If you are not in Florida, the visit does not go ahead.
  • Ketamine is never prescribed for you to take at home. It is administered only at our clinic, in person, with a clinician monitoring you throughout — a telehealth visit does not change that.
  • You are seen in person before any treatment session, because every session happens at the clinic.
  • A telehealth visit never guarantees that treatment will be offered, any more than an in-person evaluation does.
  • Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, call or text 988, or call 911.
