Road distance and route from OpenStreetMap routing, without traffic. Health figures are CDC PLACES model-based, age-adjusted estimates for adults (2023 survey data, 2025 release). They describe the community, not our patients.

Getting to Tampa from Plant City

The fastest route we measured runs west on Interstate 4 for about ten miles, joins I-75 briefly, then follows Fowler and Fletcher Avenues across north Tampa to the clinic. In total that is about 28 miles, with no tolls.

I-4 between Plant City and Tampa carries heavy commuter and freight traffic, and a single crash can change the trip completely. Leaving extra time for the drive in, and having a plan if you run late, takes some pressure off the day.

A higher distress figure than the county

CDC PLACES estimates that 18.3 in every 100 Plant City adults have been told they have a depressive disorder, compared with 16.7 for Hillsborough County as a whole. The estimate for frequent mental distress is 19.2 in every 100 adults, the highest of the Hillsborough communities we cover.

Those numbers describe the community, not you. But they are a reminder that serious low mood is common in the eastern part of the county too, where the nearest specialist care can mean a drive into Tampa.

Making a 28-mile trip work

On site, a session runs about an hour and a half to two hours; add the I-4 drive in each direction, and remember you cannot drive yourself home. For Plant City patients, that usually adds up to most of a morning or an afternoon for both you and your driver.

It helps to decide early who will drive on which dates, and whether that person will wait nearby or come back for you. Ask us during your consultation how sessions are typically spaced, so you can line up rides for the whole course rather than one visit at a time.

Keeping travel to the visits that need it

Not every appointment needs the drive. Your first consultation, any planning discussion, and the check-ins that fall between sessions are all available as telehealth visits, as long as you are in Florida for each one.

Only the treatment sessions themselves happen in person, because the medicine is always given at the clinic with a clinician watching your vital signs. That split keeps the trips to Tampa to the ones that genuinely require you to be there.

Support out in east Hillsborough

Plant City is a long way from our door, so it is worth knowing what is available closer to home. Dialing 211 anywhere in Hillsborough County connects you with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay's contact center, which the county lists as open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The 988 Lifeline takes calls and texts, and 911 is for emergencies.

How should we reach you?
Best time to reach you (optional)

In person or by telehealth

You can be seen both ways. Consultations, planning conversations, and follow-up visits happen in person at our Tampa clinic or by telehealth — whichever works better for you.

Ketamine itself is always administered in person, at the clinic, with a clinician monitoring you throughout. We do not prescribe ketamine for use at home.

Telehealth visits require you to be physically located in Florida at the time of the visit.

How telehealth works here

  • Telehealth is available to patients who are physically located in Florida, and the clinicians providing that care hold active Florida licenses.
  • Your location is confirmed at the start of every telehealth visit. If you are not in Florida, the visit does not go ahead.
  • Ketamine is never prescribed for you to take at home. It is administered only at our clinic, in person, with a clinician monitoring you throughout — a telehealth visit does not change that.
  • You are seen in person before any treatment session, because every session happens at the clinic.
  • A telehealth visit never guarantees that treatment will be offered, any more than an in-person evaluation does.
  • Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, call or text 988, or call 911.
